All projects included are hypothetical class assignments.
The following are examples of my drafting skills and design choices.
This assignment was to take inspiration from a commercial space and turn it into a residential space. My inspiration came from The W Hotel in Los Angeles (Click here for inspiration photos). I chose the furniture and layout based on the nightclub feel of the hotel lobby and dining areas and created a room in what would be a large house for entertaining with French doors opening to a courtyard, a private seating area, comfortable seating, plenty of standing room, and its own bar area, all with ambient lighting.
I was given a two bedroom floor plan and a $30,000 budget and was only able to use products from Scandinavian Designs. My goal was for plenty of dining space, a colorful yet cozy seating area around the fireplace, and relaxing but minimal bedrooms to put the mind at ease at the end of the day.
I had the same requirements for a colored in floor plan but also had to be hand drafted. There was slightly more freedom for this project. I was provided a one bedroom floor plan and had no budget and total design freedom. I tried to leave my comfort zone and explore a Bohemian design aesthetic that I was unfamiliar with.
